Changton National Museum

Ode to the White elephant.
The Changton National Museum or National Museum of Royal Elephants celebrates the Thai national emblem. This sacred animal symbolises prosperity and is intricately linked to the country's Buddhist philosophy. Before giving birth to Buddha, his mother dreamed of a white elephant handing her a lotus, a symbol of purity and knowledge. Since then, those animals are considered superior to any other elephant. In this museum you can admire a larger than life sculpted white elephant, paintings and photographs.
