Wat Benchama Bophit Temple

Carrare temple.
The Wat Benchama Bophit is often known as the "Marble Temple". It is the most recent Royal temple in Bangkok. It was built in 1899, for King Rama V who requested a luxurious temple. Built in Carrare marble, it is adorned with stained glass windows, covered in Chinese tiles and its cloister has no fewer than fifty bronze statues of Buddha. The entrance is guarded by two enormous marble lions. Inside, a massive Buddha watches over the ashes of the king who had it built. The place is tranquil, with perfect symmetry and three dominant colours: white, red and gold.
